An Australian author, now living in London, he is best known for stories based on his hometown in Victoria such as The True Story of Lilli Stubeck (1989) which won Children’s Book Council of Australia’s book of the year in 1995. Other titles include Rida a Wild Pony (1975), The True Story of Spit Macphee (1988), The Girl From The Sea (2002) and The Wings of Kitty St Clair (2006).
