Born c1329. Died 1384 - English religious reformer.


Studied theology at Oxford. Known for translating the Bible from Latin into English. Believed the teachings of God should be available to everyone not just through the clergy. Attacking the established Church in his work Objections to the Friars. In 1415 his works were declared ‘heretical’ by the Church. His bones were dug up, cast out of consecrated ground, later publicly burnt and cast into the River Swift.
