Thursday 20th August 2009 Thorpe Park kicks up a stink
The smell of fear has been banned on the rollercoaster at Surrey’s Thorpe Park. After complaints from customers during recent hot spells about body odour, officials at the theme park have decided to ban people from riding the coaster with their arms held aloft.

Director Mike Vallis insisted it was not a publicity stunt but a sign of the company taking their customer’s feedback seriously. Staff at the theme park will be on hand with deodorant sprays to help keep things smelling sweet on the ride. Customers exhibiting tell-tale signs of BO will be discreetly asked to use the deodorant before riding the rollercoaster. Surrey

The Dartford factory had previously cut back expecting to see a fall in demand as a result of the down-turn. But a surprisingly resilient local market, and exports boosted by a weak pound, have changed everything as the company gears up to meet a brighter than expected future. Surrey
