Delny is a tranquil area in Easter-Ross in the Highlands of Scotland situated close to the Cromarty Firth, 3 miles north-east of Invergordon and 26 miles north of Inverness Easter-Ross sits between the Beauly Firth and the Dornoch Firth with Ben Wyvis Scotland’s second highest mountain on the north-west boundary. The beautiful countryside offers varied landscapes with wild mountains for climbing, ancient forests with walking trails, lochs for fishing, glens with wildlife and coastlines with unspoilt beaches and high-cliffs with colonies of nesting sea-birds. Delny is a popular tourist resort with a holiday-park offering a range of self-catering lodges, the park has a pub; a shop and launderette; pony-trekking and a children’s play area. Loch Katrina is nearby with rowing-boats and fly-fishing available. Delny is an ideal base for touring the Highlands, nearby towns and villages include the 11th century market town of Dingwall, Tain; the oldest royal burgh is the home of Glenmorangie Whiskey, Strathpeffer is a Victorian spa village and Invergordon has an estuarine complex with boat-trips for dolphin and bird-watching. Nearby attractions include The Great Glen Way, a footpath from Inverness to Fort William and Loch Ness with Urquhart Castle and monster-spotting cruises. The area is abundant with whiskey distilleries, numerous golf courses and during the summer a selection of Highland Games.
