A marvellous event which, for the former and current soldiers involved, combines the joy of meeting old friends and comrades of all ages, with the solemn pride of marching together past the Cavalry Memorial, leading to a remembrance service for the cavalry fallen of the two world wars and the conflicts since.
What you'll see: military bands playing. Lots of dark suits and regimental ties, many wearing bowler hats and carrying rolled umbrellas (the old-fashioned officer's civilian dress which is still worn for this parade). And a moving service around the Hyde Park bandstand before everyone heads off for lunch.
