Having booked a 1 night stay on the 9th March 2010 for a twin en-suite over the telephone with someone called Ewelina. With a further telephone call the following week spoke to a Scottish lady to confirm arrangements. On arrival we were showed to our room only to find that it was not what I clearly booked. But a double with a shared bathroom. Never in the world would I want that. There was no cups/saucers in the room only 1 mug. The bedside lamp had no bulb in it. Towels were a variety of colours. Then to add insult to injury there was no heating in the room the radiator was broken (which I had to ask to be put on as it was freezing). A heater was brought up when I asked the girl if she was the one who took the booking she said no because she had been in Latvia. She didn't recognised the name of Ewelina then when I said she was Polish she said it was the cleaner. I asked if we could change room but said they were none available. I asked to speak to the owner but apparently she was in London. Breakfast room was cold and dreary. The tablecloth, crockery didn't match. We weren't asked what we would like to eat. So food was wasted. When it arrived it was on cold plates. The teapot had 1 teabag in it weak as ditchwater. Overall the whole stay was terribly. There was no proffesional approach or simple etiquette.

This was a most enjoyable stay. The guest house is simple and plain, but comfortable, attractive and had everything we required. It had a good feeling about it. The proprietor was very obliging. It is located close to the centre of Berwick-on-Tweed and to the old city walls and the river. I'd like to go back one day.
