This event is fantastic! So thrilled to find out it's on every year in July. First of all the town is a hidden gem, quite delightful, with a Market Place you discover when you go down the alley from the main parking. If the clothing were different you could imagine having stepped back in time. Many Tudor buildings, well conserved and in current use. The Open House Scheme listed 28 properties open to the public. We met most of the (very proud) owners, happy to chat about their renovation stories, showing some wonderful treasures, such as 16th century carved oak fireplaces. Ancient charters and maps were on view in the Mayor's Parlour, Yes, we could even go in there, there were medieval barns and creekside buildings open as well as private homes. Fascinating! Good range of food and drink spots too. Only went one day so couldn't see everything. Yipee, I can do it again, over three Saturdays if I want.
