never visited overton before so found the red lion by chance, the drink prices are very reasonable, and the food to die for, I chose the steak and it was cooked medium rare just as i ordered it. well done to the red lion. If i pass thru overton again i'll be back.

very dissapointed with the food, but more importantly the service. My fried who was pregnant, ordered a well done steak, it arrived in front of her pink... When she aksed for it to be cooked proeprly, it came back out awfully dry and tasting terrible, like it had just been nuked in the microwave. We wish we never mentioned anything as the service we received after was not pleasant, we were made to feel guilty, like we were lying... An incredible shame.

We booked to celebrate our daughters 18th. 26 of us in all clashing with mothers day. They did a great job for us, the food was very good and the service friendly, effecient and thoughtful. Everyone, expecially the birthday girl had a lovely time and we have received many compliments form our guests at our find. Very pleased to be able to recommend The Red Lion.

Spring roll starter looks a bit skimpy but tasted delicious ( acc to my wife) The fish & chips meal was the best we have had for a long time. Fish cooked perfectly and thin batter - yo !! Lemon tart is to die for Excellent choice of red wine by the glass. Guiness served was perfectly smooth Resturant setting good but needs some non-corporate art Staff - good balance overall : it's an 8 to 9 out of 10

I visited the Red Lion Inn for my 30th birthday meal. I was pleasantly surprised... the Red Lion Inn has been refurbished and re-opened 10 weeks ago as a gastro pub. It is now a light and airy but still intimate restaurant with 2 separate bars and an outdoor space with patio heaters and plenty of parking. The food was very good. It was cooked fresh and prepared and cooked onsite. The wine list was extensive (but missed off any NZ wines). The meal was very reasonable for the quality of food and the staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend the Red Lion. I will be taking friends back there soon.
