we visited the Peacock for a New Years Day extended family lunch and were very pleased with both the food and service. Despite being new years day the food wasn't horrendously overpriced - in fact it was the same price for the carvery as a normal weekend which offered fantastic value for money. The food was excellent. The landlord, landlady and staff were all friendly and welcoming and made time to chat even though they were very busy.

It is a shame that this pub still has bad reputation. It is true that it has in the past been ill run by an incompetent unwelcoming Landlord. This is to say for the last one in any case. The new landlord/lady are so very welcoming. Always make time to talk to you. I have only been for Sunday lunches and they are wonderful. It is a carvery. The meat is cooked to perfection and the veg is pentiful. I just cannot fault the new landlords, the food and atmosphere at the Cutthorpe during 2010.

We re-discovered the Peacock when the current land lady took over. This pub has gone back to what it used to be like, many years ago - a warm welcome and an excellent variety of meals. Very accommodating to my picky dietry requirements. The food is plentiful and extremely good value for money and very very enjoyable. Thoroughly recommend the Bombardier Beer (and the coffee, sometimes even served with a mint :o)

On arriving at the pub the bar maid pulled a pint of fosters that was very cloudy, smelt and tasted funny!! not a good sign, but changed for another type of lager. We ordered a roast pork dinner and steak and mushroom pie which stated on the menu served with veg and chips and plenty of gravy, this was not the case, the pie was very small had been nuked in the microwave served with peas and luke warm chips and a very small amount of gravy, as for the roast pork this was also minging served on a very small plate with little veg and a well old yorkshire pudding. We asked for mustard with our meal but never recieved it as the bar maid recieved a personal call on the way to get it, not like it was busy only us and few others there. We even had problems catching the bar maids attention to pay!!! We will not be returning to this place thats for sure.
