Visited The Pheasant Inn on Saturday night for the first time. Food, service and atmosphere excellent! Starter (Nachos) gorgeous, Main Chicken, very tender with a tasty Wholegrain Mustard Cream sauce, Pudding, Chocolate with a delicious oozing centre. Highly recommend but go hungry as portions are on the large side!! Will definitely return - soon!! My friend who is a vegetarian also had an excellent choice.

We had a fantastic Valentine's Day meal at this lovely country pub. We were recommended it by the owner of the holiday cottage we were staying at - they said they send all their guests there - I can see why. The meal was outstanding. We had the biggest Prawn Cocktail you have ever seen topped with a generous portion of Smoked Salmon. For main course we both had Sirloin Steaks - which were melt in your mouth. For pudding we shared a Chocolate Mousse which was also delicious! The pub has a lovely atmosphere, with it's roaring log fire and rustic features. Make sure you pay it a visit if you are ever in the area, you won't be disappointed!

A lovely evening with friends was sadly spoilt by the ignorant, bad mannered land lady, who showed no people skills. when asking for a coffee at the end of the meal for the designated driver, after spending 200+ to be told everything was washed and switched off with a attitude, is not the best way of treating customers. Then to be told if your not happy drink up and leave! I would not recommend this establishment to anyone while under this management and i certainly wont be going back.

I would highly recommend a visit to the Pheasant Inn, if you would like interesting wines, excellent food and a warm welcome. The restaurant offers an excellent varied menu at affordable prices. There is always a specials board with a variety of interesting meat dishes and vegetarian options. The atmosphere is informal and friendly and the owners are always there and unfailingly helpful. . I will definitely be going back!

We have recently discovered the Pheasant Inn Pub, having spent Christmas in Brampton. We enjoyed our first meal on Boxing Day evening, finding the food to be steaming hot and delicious. The pub's quiz followed and contributed to a really enjoyable evening. We returned to Cumwhitton and the Pheasant on two more occassions, on the second visit booking a table to dine on New Year's Eve. The food that evening was fantastic, delivered to tables in an orderly 'help-yourself' style buffet, with staff on-hand to portion different meat and fish varieties (with ample alternatives for those who are vegetarian - for example Provencal omelette cake). An array of salads, breads, cheeses, quiches and assortments accompanied, with desserts to follow for those who had room. A Scots Piper playing us into the New Year, completed the best Hogmanay celebrations we've experienced for as long as we can remember, made all the more memorable by such friendly and thoroughly decent people.

I love steak and have eaten plenty of it over the years but without doubt the best piece of steak I have EVER had was at the Pheasant Inn. It was melt in your mouth stuff! My friend I was with that night is a Vegetarian and often is disappointed with the menu's at other resturants but what She ordered looked and tasted amazing! Im ordering it next time....and I love my meat!! Thanks so much for a lovely memorable evening. I cant wait for my next visit!

We are regular customers at Pheasant Inn and always have excellent service and superb food,I object to c Stewart's comments about the 4th Feb 2010,we were in the Pheasant on the said evening and witnessed the events. The report is far from accurate and the ten minutes were actually much much more. The Pheasant is well worth a visit, you will be sure of excellent service and utmost courtesy.Happy to put the record straight.

What a wonderful find! Went on a friends recommendation for 'The best Steak around' and wasn't disappointed. The owner was so friendly, making sure we were comfortable and helping us with the menu and the steak did not disappoint - the best I have had in years, cooked to perfection! Would highly recommend a visit but book early as this was our third try for a Saturday night!

Booked for a group of 10. Was told they would be busy that night and that we needed to be there to order by 6.30. Some of our party were not there at 6.30pm. The gentleman serving came out and practically threw the menus at us, then gave us a lecture on the others not being there and said that they could not chose anything from the menu, they could only have the cottage pie! The three late arrivals arrived within ten minutes and were told cottage pie or nothing!! The rudeness was amazing. I have been eating there, perhaps twice a year for nearly ten years and since the new owners took over obviously customer service is seriously lacking. If they couldn't cope with another booking... why not say they were fully booked... greed maybe. A dreadful experience for the 6 in our group who had not been there before... we won't be going back.

Wonderful! Great atmosphere and fabulous food. We spent the weekend at the pub (it has a small B&B section) to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. The owners Sara and Christine were lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. There were lots of locals eating and drinking in the pub and Sara and Christine greeted them all with genuine enthusiasm and by name - quite a feat! Great northern hospitality which had us looking at houses for sale in the area..!

What a wonderful meal. Great surroundings, friendly service and even more friendly locals. A fantastic choice of food that proved hard to decide and that was a reduced menu as the chef was on holiday! The Mackerel and lemon pate was delicious served with oat cakes and a mixed salad. The Chicken breast was to die for! So moist and flavoursome, stuffed with dolce latte cheese and mushrooms and smothered with the most flavour packed sun dried tomato sauce I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. My mouth is still watering at the memory! Sadly did not have room for the wonderful choice of afters available due the deceptively large portions served, but the toffee sauce of my husbands sticky toffee pudding proved totally irresistible! I would certainly go back again and again! A must
