I visited the wheatsheaf with my 2 sons. Our starter was the combo for 2 people. The chicken was burnt and the scampi tasted very unpleasant. The 2 boys had steak which was ok but my meal was the worst meal I have ever had. It was the steak and ale pie with mashed postatoes. It came with chips to start with but I didn't say anything and just began to eat. The steak and ale pie was absolutely vile and made me feel sick. I couldn't eat it and the veg had been boiled for so long that I couldn't even pick it up with a fork. I did complain to the staff and had my meal knocked off the bill but to be honest I didn't get the impression they had a clue what they where doing in any case. I should have took notice of that fact that the restaurant was empty and left straight away to eat elsewhere. I will not be visiting it again!!

A relative suggested we try this pub on our way back from a day at Tatton Park, as he had been there on a previous occasion and was pleased with his meal. Having experienced the Wheatsheaf ourselves we can heartily recommend it. The staff couldn't do enough to help, they were courteous and the food exceeded our expectations. When you hit a chain pub offering a deal like their "2 main courses for £10" you don't expect much choice or great quality. But our dinner was tasty, well cooked and excellent value. Any variations ("can I have chips instead of the rice?") were no problem and the generous puddings rounded it all off nicely. Even the coffee was had decent flavour! 10 out of 10 for the Wheatsheaf.
