We visited this pub on a quiet Sunday night. It was empty apart from the staff. There was ample parking which was adequately lit. The pub was, in my opinion, very poorly decorated and outdated. It seems to be having some kind of identity crisis. High bar stools circled a table, along side cottage style and highly uncomfortable chairs hugging scratched and sticky tables. Strange claret coloured seats nestled along side what could be extremely attractive church benches in a natural wood. Shiny high gloss chocolate brown paint work went out with the ark to be honest. The plastic Meekat models did nothing to address the poor decor unfortunately. Neither did the assortment of plastic and china cats dotted around the place. The waft of disinfectant that seeped out of the toilets, which I didn't avail myself of, did nothing what so ever to improve the atmosphere in any way. As well as the hideous decorative environment, we had to put up with chairs being noisily dragged across the tiled floor. I had tried to indicate that this was a bit irritating but in the end I resorted to tutting loudly and turning round like a miserable middle aged old bat, muttering 'For Goodness Sake!!' Give her her due, the barmaid did in fact apologise but my question is, what makes someone so out of touch with good customer service that they wouldn't realise that that horrendous noise would be unpleasant for anyone present? I would love to visit the pub again with a few paint charts and would be more than happy to make some suggestions to improve the place. Oh, and before I sign off, why oh why would anyone feel it was acceptable for staff to stand right outside the door smoking so non smoking customers must walk through clouds of cheap smoke to escape to their cars? I don't think I will be visiting the Mad Cat Inn again any time soon.

Upon returning home we stumpbled accross the Mad Cat Inn at Pidley. we had a great meal great value for money and very helpful staff. The grounds are large with good looking gardens and plenty of parking available. In general its good to see a traditional pub! offering a vast menu with good value and great sevice? Keep it up!
