Made my 2nd B&B visit to this traditional pub and found it, as on the first occasion, to be excellent value. My group were immediately made welcome. The room was spick and span and the bed very comfortable. Toilets/showers were close by and very clean. In the evening the bar was cheerful and hospitable with 3 good real ales on tap including a guest from Long Man brewery. The breakfast was freshly cooked and hot with plenty of toast and coffee. The staff i met, including the lovely lady with the hoover, were friendly and helpful. Would i return? - definately.

We called in at the Lamb & Flag today for the first time . The pub was crowded for Sunday lunchtime but the friendly bar staff found us a table in the bar. We chose the very reasonably priced Sunday Roasts (£10). Excellent value with the food well cooked and presented. Nothing could be faulted ! Well priced excellent food with friendly staff. Sure we will make a detour for another visit. We can see why it's best to book a table !

We visited this pub at the weekend and had a superb meal. Beer was spot on (Not sure if review below went to the same place, based on all the other reviews)and the food was an amazing surprise. It is very refreshing to visit a traditional non chain pub serving great quality food. Will definitely be back.

Called in to see what the place was like, had a very poor pint of Elgoods Cambridge Bitter. If they cannot keep beer properly it doesn't make you want to sample the food. Will not be returning.

I visited this pub for lunch, after having been to the Welney Wildlife Reserve (where the food is not great, and rather expensive.) The menu looked simple and might well have been typical, nothing very special, pub food. However, the food turned out to be excellent - it looked appetising and was beautifully cooked and presented. My mother had fish and chips - very fresh haddock in a nice light batter and the chips were just right. I had onion and cherry tomato tart, which was delicious, and came with a good portion of salad. I was very pleasantly surprised at how good it was, and I would go out of my way to visit this pub again. All the staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. It just shows what can be done if you try! The only slight question I have is the rather confusing road sign as you come out onto the main road from the Wildlife Reserve heading towards Ely. It appears to suggest that the pub is further on - whereas in fact you need to turn back into Welney in order to reach it. But I'm very glad we perservered!

Wonderful Sunday lunch with my family. No complaints. Food hot and plenty of it. Loads of veg, so much so we had to leave some! What a shame!! Desserts really home made and traditional. Going again this Sunday so expecting another wonderful meal.

I have been staying at and eating at the Lamb and Flag on a regular weekly basis for the past three years. I have never had a bad meal - the staff are fantastic and the atmosphere extremely friendly. With the exception of The Plate and Porter at March, by far the best food in the area.

THIS IS THE BEST INN/RESTAURANT IN THE AREA. NO THEMES, NO GIMMICKS. GREAT HOSTS, ESPECIALLY THE LANDLORD AND HIS CHEFS. THE FOOD IS GREAT WHOLESOME TRADITIONAL BRITISH FOOD AT ITS VERY BEST. THERE IS NOWHERE ELSE TO GO THAT EVEN COMPARES TO THIS. A FRIEND/COLLEAGUE WHO CAME FROM SURREY, NOW LIVES AND WORKS HERE. HE STATED THIS IS FIRST CLASS AND IT IS THE ONLY PLACE THAT HAS REMAINED TOP OF HIS CULINARY LIST. WE HAVE ALL TOURED THE AREA AND FORGET GRANDEUR (NOT MUCH HERE ANYWAY) WHAT YOU PAY FOR YOU GET. THE PORTIONS ARE USUALLY TOO BIG, NOT TOO SMALL, AS SOME TWIT HAS WRITTEN. YOU CAN EAT VEG TILL IT IS COMING OUT OF YOUR EARS. WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYTHING ELSE IN THE AREA, EXCEPT THE DIANA AND THE IMPERIAL BENTO. WE HAVE REALISED THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO JUST CAN NOT COOK AND WE HAVE COVERED CORNWALL, NORFOLK, SUFFOLK, LONDON, CAMBS!

Went out with 3 friends for evening meal on a saturday. Nice welcome and cosy fires. I was surprised at how many folk came in during the evening so the beer must be good. Meal was very nice and piping hot - staff very freiendly and attentive. Good sized portions and plenty of veg. Would't hesitate to go again. Good honest pub food.

One visit, local to our B&B; atmosphere and beer fine, but food not. Fish and chips - the little fish was hopelessly overcooked with far too much batter.

We have regulary eaten in the Lamb and Flag for the past three years and have found their food great. Unfortunately the last two times we have been the portion size have got alot smaller, you are left feeling hungry. Also when we ordered a fillet steak we got a sirlion instead, this has happened twice. We will not be going again..What a shame.

My Partner, 2 friends and I went to the Lamb and Fag for a meal. We were delighted with the home cooked food and enjoyed the friendly old pub atmosphere. What a refreshing change from all the chains of plastic pubs out there.

This is a review as we have been going to this pub for the past 3 years @ w/end and weekdays!! We booked a table for lunch on Sunday 20th Aug @ 1pm there was 5 + 1 little baby. The food was ok, but not up to the usual standard. The veg was varied but only 3 bits of cauli (hows that going to be shared). The men in the party went to get another drink to wash down the deserts. Where we were asked to vacate the table as the next people were waiting. I personally had only just finished my desert!! . I will now not be in a hurry to visit again, and this was not a pleasant meal for our guests Sorry
