New Owners after being closed for nearly a Year From the owners of the awarding winning Restaurant ‘The Hole in the Wall’ in Bath, Set in the tranquil village of Goring Heath, the pub boasts a cosy & traditional bar area with open fires and comfy seating. A seasonal menu to chose from or great place to relax, unwind and meet up with friends.

Unfortunately closed - for sale This was surely one of my favourites; will have to resort to Bottle & Glass (Binfield Heath)

My wife and I were very disappointed when we visited. The bar area was quite grubby and the food was not very exciting. My wife's baked potato was undercooked and she was told that a replacement would be just the same as they came pre-cooked. Our money for the baked potato was refunded with a very poor grace and we definitely won't go back again.

We visited this pub whilst myself and partner were on a drive in the area. The atmosphere in the pub was really friendly and welcoming. We had a meal there too and expected it to be just average kind of pub food however it was much better than average. We were pleasantly suprised with how nice the food was. The food was really fresh, beautifully presented, and very tasty. Definately would recommend this pub/restraunt! We will be visiting again for a meal very soon.

We call in at the King Charles Head Goring when visiting the area, it is now under new management Ron & Claire very good service with good Beer & Good Food. This pub will need your help if not to be one more closed and lost for ever. D R Hasler Beadle & Freeman of the City of London

I have visited this pub a couple of times when the family and i have been on walk's and sadly must agree with the other reviews! however on a recent jaunt we saw the sign under new management and decided to try again. Total shock we had a warm friendly welcome from the landlady and bar staff, the sunday roast was tremendous, tasting of good home cooked food and not your microwave rubbish. In all with a roaring open fire good beer proper home cooked food and a warm welcome this place has recaptured the essence of a country pud.... thank you

My wife and I have been regular visitors to the pub for some years as it's a great place for summer evenings with the children. The pub has recently changed hands and whilst it retains it's good beer, sadly the food is not what it was, being somewhat 'pub fair' rather than restaurant standard as was. It also no longer serves the excellent Thai food, for which it was well known. We both had Lasagne which was very average - the vegetables were soggy, microwaved efforts at best. Our advice - go for the beer, avoid the food.

This was our first visit to the King Charles Head after new management. We had always been regular visitors but had been turned away on opening week as apparently you now needed to book a table if you wanted food. We booked after several tries of ringing and were told they were fully booked at 7:00 so we had to book for 7:30 which we did not mind as a busy pub is always a good sign. However on arrival we found there was no need to book for a table that evening and were slightly confused why we were told it was booked a 7:00. We ordered drinks and a meal for 4 and after that our expectations only went downhill. The food was average, a medium steak was well over cook and all of the orders were wrong in one way or another. One meal turned up once everyone else had finished as they brought out completely the wrong dish and the potatoes were given as a choice however we did not get what we chose. We then found that we were not the only dissatisfied customers. At the bar there were a number of complaints of the local ale being off, a drinks order being overcharged and in general the service behind the bar was appalling. The land lady in particular was extremely rude. Another customer asked to change her order as she had ordered cod and now wanted to change her meal and the land lady didn’t even realise there was cod on the menu which led to an argument with the customer. I would NOT recommend this pub at all - a total shambles! Particularly disappointed as previous management were warm welcoming and service had been so friendly and food always great!
