A truely excellent pub/restaurant which I would highly recommend, the setting was beautiful, the food delicious and fairly priced. Excellent fish and vegetarian options! They also had some very good local ale. Service was friendly and efficient.

It has a lovely setting by the canal and it was a nice day. We had been a couple of times before and we were not overly impressed then, but we decided for some reason to give it another go. To be very honest I wish we hadn't bothered. We arrived about 1pm and stood in a queue to order and pay up front for our food. The menue was very dissapointing with a poor choice. However I settled for Roast beef etc and my wife had a chicken pasta dish.
We then waited and waited. After an hour and a quarter, I complained to a waitress about the wait. The food then remarkably appeared. Mine was about two ounces of fatty beef with a yorkshire pud, two roast potatoes, four new potatoes, a dish of carrots and some broccolli plus there was a little gravy already on the plate. The chicken pasta dish looked so much better. I must say it was one of the worst meals I have had however my wife said hers wasn't bad. A couple next to us who were only having a drink and some dry roasted nuts, asked me with a smile "was it worth the wait then?" I replied with conviction " No it definitely wasn't, no wonder they get you to pay up front" Had it not been for that, we would have certainly wandered off. I will definitely not be eating there ever again. Marks out of ten, Nil for me. My wife gives it two for food zero for service.
One to avoid I'm afraid!
