The Red Lion is a wonderful friendly restaurant. The staff are polite and service is exceptional. The decor is in keeping with the building but also with a modern touch. The food is absolutely delicious and very reasonable price (far better food, prices and friendlier owners than the Plough at the other end of the village). The menu is varied with some twists to traditional recipes but there is always something for everyone and you can enjoy a very good sized portion. The fish gratin and sirloin steak sunday lunch are my favourites and the desserts are mouthwatering. There is a great selection of wines, spirits etc and the (very well behaved!)locals often frequent the bar at the rear of the restaurant. If you like the hungry horse chain then this restaurant is definatly NOT for you. There is not a widescreen tv or football shirt in sight and i'm glad that this village restaurant is looking like it is here to stay. I would also like to add i have never had a dirty piece of cutlery or glass etc and we eat there regularly. The staff are always cleanly dressed, well spoken and are professional. Definatly 5 stars.

Since our last visit this pub has become a free house, and as it has served Greene King beer for over 200 years, they have now decided to stock a different range of real ales. When we visited there was Woodfordes 'Wherry', Adnams 'Broadside' & Mauldons 'Silver Adder'. We also noticed Aspall Cyder on draft and Bitburger Pils on draft, as well as a brand new wine list. The pub was busy with drinkers outside and people eating inside, worth booking regardless of the day of the week, dart board in the back bar was also nice to see!

A genuine 10/10 service here... after being told the restaurant was full, our party of 11 was accepted at very short notice and the staff obviously put themselves out to accommodate us. Food was excellent, staff were very attentive & polite.... and the dog behind the bar was very well behaved! Couldn't recommend it more.
