I was advised to go here for proper home made food and was not disapointed. The soup was excellent and as a non meat eater I was more than happy with the food choices on the menu. In fact my fish was better than any I have tried in more expensive places in the area. I just wish more pubs had food like this place.

This establishment deserves its reputation for wonderful food and hospitality. I have visited the Burnt Gate on many occasions and it never fails to please. It's rare to find somewhere that serves proper home made food, the apple pie here must be the best in Staffordshire!I am surprised a previous review found the Burnt Gate to be unfriendly towards children, I took my young grandaughter with me on this occasion and she was also made very welcome and had a lovely home made meal.

Food okay. We have never visited such a family UNFRIENDLY pub. The landlady (we presume) was particularly unpleasant to our very well behaved children - so much so that other pub users commented on this to us. We would not recommend to families and would avoid in future.
