My wife and I have just paid our first & last visit to the Swan, being advertised as 'under new management' we thought that we would give it a try and expected better. We ordered our meals at the bar as no one bothered to attend to us at the table, we then waited circa 40 mins for our meals, my wife's meal was not as advertised it had vegetables not salad, the waitress didn't inform us, I had the burger, which arrived burnt, not a single member of staff (4 on shift) asked if the meal was ok nor attended our table during the meal. Basic service. When I told the barman, he apologized but that doesn't put it right, I offered my credit card for payment, then to be told that the machine doesn't work, not having enough cash, the proprietor completed the transaction through his computer. Frankly it was the worst dining experience we have received for a very, very long time.

I wanted to comment on the two dining experiences myself and my husband has had over the last few months. Our first visit was to the Falcon in Woore for their sunday lunch. Looks the part but the food and the service let the place down terribly. The vegetables were overcooked, the meat was tough and the cutlery looked like it hadn't been washed for a week ! NEVER AGAIN So my husband and I decided to revisit the SWAN at Woore which is a stones throw away, last Tuesday evening. They had a 50% discount on their Steakstones... OMG it was one of the best steaks EVER. Apparently the Swan was been taken over a few months ago and my goodness what a difference in their quality of food. We did go to the Swan back in February 2010 but their food was dissapointing, and the service was awful. Hence the reason for not re visiting. The new owners have done this wonderful pub a great favour !!! The service was second to none. Nice when the staff actually care about their customers unlike the other place. Thanks for a wonderful evening, wonderful service and a small bill. Excellent

I used to live in Staffordshire and whenever I go back, friends and I regularly meet at The Swan. We were concerned to hear that it had been taken over, but it was great! Yes, they are having some teething problems but the staff were open and honest about this, more than polite and apologetic when the meal was delayed (we hadn't even noticed at that point, but always a good idea to get the apology in early!). The food was excellent - well-cooked and presented main courses, desserts with lots to taste as well as calories! We wish the new team all the best and applaud them for taking it slowly and carefully at this stage to ensure they get it right.

The Swan At Woore Dropped in this pub today with my girlfriend and thought I'd post a quick review. Never been in the pub and thought we'd try it out for ourselves. What can I say the meals were absolutly fantastic. We both had the Roast beef sunday dinner and hot chocolate fudge cake with ice cream. The staff were very friendly and the meals even better. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and will definitely be back again.. Thanks to all at The Swan Danny & Deb

I just have to reply to the review that was posted by SB with regards to The Swan @ Woore, i have now had several meals since it has been taken over and the service, food and staff have all been excellent, seeing as though SB mentions another pub i can only assume that they are worried that The Swan will take away their customers. I have no hesitation in recommend The Swan.

What a nightmare of a place. We used to go into the Swan regularly and decided to try it under new management. Big mistake... we should have realised when we were the only people eating and there were only 2 people drinking at the bar! The service was terrible, the girl had not been trained and didnt know how to take an order and write it on the pad. The starter was ok. The main course was disgusting! We both ordered steak, the menu said it would come on a lava stone rare and cook as you eat! It came on a white plate, when we asked why they said the lava stones hadnt arrived yet - shouldnt we have been told that when we ordered? My husbands steak came overcooked so his had to go back and when it came again he cut into it and the smell that came from the meat was awful. We refused to eat it and pay for it and walked out of the pub. We offered to pay for the starters and the chef (who I believe is the manager too) accepted our money!!!! We went down to The Falcon and made it clear to everyone in there that The Swan is a big mistake :o) NEVER EAT IN THE SWAN IT IS A HEALTH HAZARD

We recently went down to Bridgemere World Garden centre and decided to stop off at the Swan Pub for a meal.I knew it had changed hands for the better from friends. The new landlord is very helpful and couldn't do enough for us, he explained he had only recently took over and they would be doing some internal work on the place. The menu was very extensive so the choice of dishes was excellent. The Steak and Ale pie was to die for according to my Granddaughter and also the goats cheese tart which was also excellent. The portion sizes were very good as was the presentation. The Cheesecake was heaven.I know The Swan lost it's food reputation under the previous owners but I would reccomend anyone to try it now and I am sure they will be very pleased they did. Victoria

WOW-what a place. Me and my wife had visited the swan at woore several times before, and it had been fantastic,so i organised a suprise family gathering for her on mothersday(a table of 9). we all had a starter, main and dessert and were amazed how quickly the food came seeing as the restaraunt was full. The roast dinners were to die for, being a retired chef myself it was obvious that the yorkshires were fresh and the meat carved hot.Altogether a very good pub, great friendly staff and superb food.I would reccomend it to anyone and we've already been back.

I have just got back from the swan after having a superb lunch with two of my friends while passing by on the way back from brigmere. whilst looking for their website i have found this site so thought id tell your all our thoughts. We went for the lunch time menu which is two course for around £9. i had the soup of the day and the liver, the portions were that big i could fit in a dessert. However charlotte had the homemade crumble and said it was divine.also The blonde haired lady who served us couldn't of helped us more and made us feel so welcome. great find and we'l be going back when we're next in the area.

“Staff are always right – not the customers” was what we were told - Sunday lunch – what a disaster! After visiting the Swan at Woore on numerous occasions, the 11 of us will never go back again after our recent experience. All of the staff were unable to provide an itemised bill, only a hand written total amount. And when this was received, there was complete incompetence with simple arithmetic, even when challenged on the total amount. Children’s meals were advertised as £3.95 but we were charged at £10.95! In one meal, the Stilton, Bacon and Pear salad, there was no pear used. This was evident in 3 of these dishes that were ordered by my party. Cold food simply plated up hours before service with the hope that hot gravy over the top will bring the whole thing into line. 9 out of 11 meals only warm and not hot as you would expect. The Assistant Manager and Restaurant Manager were completely obstructive and informed us that when asked about the cold food, would side with his staff and that we were wrong. The Chef even came out from the kitchen, put his hands up and said “I don’t believe you” and walked away, unable to deal with a customer face to face. There was no apology for any of our concerns and the place wasn’t even busy – not as if there was a rush on at the time. Will not be returning and would not recommend to anyone. One out of ten for “looking” like a nice place to eat...

What a find this place is. We have now eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Not only is the food excellent, but the service is second to none and, what's more, the Landlord/Chef himself frequently tours the tables to find out if everything is ok with the meal. Last week I had a chicken livers starter to die for followed by a delicious pork dish, both off the specials menu. My husband had melt-in-the-mouth brie wedges followed by a fantastic rack of lamb, both off the main menu. Even the children aren't left out, with a good choice of dishes on their own menu. We'll certainly be back soon and we'd highly recommend this pub to everyone - but remember to book at weekends as they get very busy!
