Is The Old Forge Fish shop still trading? I have been trying to make contact with them since last December. Does anyone know what has happened to them?

Appalling services and over priced. It took over 20 minutes before some came over to take the order. Another 20 minutes for the starters which where small. The main courses took a further 45 minutes and in one case over salted. Then complained about it we where told that we where wrong and luckily we would not be charged for it. A further 30 minutes before they consider bring over the desert menu. They should remember who is paying their bills and who are giving them the best advertisement. Greatly disappointed by the customer service. Fine not all meals are to everyone's tastes but never tell the customer that they are wrong. Because they are going to tell that story to their friends and colleagues.

I'm writing this review on this date as it is our wedding anniversary and I have not forgotten last year's and our visit to the Freemasons. I did mention that it was a special 35 years anniversary when I booked a meal. We were shown upstairs by a not to pleasant a young lady. We were seated at an old table, cobbled together by I assume the owner. The room was cold with no atmosphere at all.I did ask if they would turn on the gas fire as it was so cold. I was informed that it did not work. After completing our starter I asked if we could be given a table in the bar area, thinking it would be warmer, it was but not much.We traped downstaires carrying our own knives forkes, and wine glasses( that's customer care for you)and shown to another table likened to an old door off a shippon. We could not wait to finish our meal and get home to a warm house. I wrote a letter to the owner complaining that his estbishment and very expensive and poor quality meal had spoilt what should have been a special evening for my wife and myself. I received the most arrogant reply ever, not even an apology, and in a polite sort of way telling me to bu**er off as he had many satisfied customers who wrote good reviews. On reading some of the reviews I think not. Tonight I have booked us a meal at the Red Pump Bashall Eaves If this is another disaster I'm really in the dog house.

Very mediocre - floor staff lacking in knowledge when asked about the menus and food was served cold.Asked for the food to be heated only to be told that this was at the correct temperature it should have been !!! On the plus hand the guy behind the bar was excellent and very knowledgeable. Decor is beautiful but staff and food let the place down and when the chef came out in dirty whites I was totally shocked

Interesting to read the recent reviews.I've been to this pub a few times and always enjoyed it, but had a reaaly bad time there with two friends in April 2011. Maybe it's since it changed hands. We had to change tables because they wouldn't turn the music down for me - speaker right above my head - and the restaurant staff were bad-mannered. The wine waiter couldn't recommend the house wine. Why is it on the menu then? The bar staff were great an seemed to know about the poor service. Our vegetables were served in broken pots. Food only fair and expensive. I've written to let the owner know about all this, but as yet ahven't had a reply.

First of all we weren't given a choice where to sit and having been with the Grandchildren all day we were looking forward to some adult time, but you can't blame children for being children. The menu...if you didn't like fish there was very little else to choose from.In the end I chose the pea and ham soup as a main meal, with breaded ham fingers,I got 1 'finger':the soup came in a tea cup,and was barely warm. My husband chose a fish dish which he described as a minnow on overcooked veg. Having eaten in restaurants in many countries, and also locally, we found that the emphasis was on the presentation rather than the taste and quality.

The pub is beautifully decorated, however the food was cold and the staff are not a very friendly. It cost £250 for 4 of us so quite expensive - which we dont mind if it was excellent but it wasnt...

What a huge disappointment. Poor service, lukewarm food, miniscule portions, laughable vegetarian options, no offer of bread or vegetables. On the plus side it is a fantastically well presented venue in superb settings.

This my 3rd visit. This time with family and friends and it was fabulous yet again. The food is well presented and and always tastes as good as it looks. The decor inside is something else especially is your are lucky enough to sit upstairs in the themed rooms! a perfect family setting. Please go out your way to visit this establishment. A great discovery and is those standards remain a place we will visit time and time again. Cheers Chris

Food - ok Service - were served by a young polite girl but have never met anybody as rude as a blonde girl who I was advised was the assistant manager. She had no idea on how to talk to people and was a disgrace.I would not go back there when she was working - the owner if he wants to keep his business would do better to dismiss her!!!!
