Returning to the best kept secret in Dorset for another meal and evening's drinking I was dismayed to find the previous owners had left, taking the gorgeous pub dog too. I was told they'd sold up and only mover a week or so before. I put my scepticism behind me and orders a £14 sirloin steak of the very limited menu, that was my first mistake. Previous perfect steaks are replaced by dry, overcooked and overpriced fayre. My wife's meal was average and the drinks prices high. Apparently they only serve £5 large glasses of wine as this was what was poured when asked for a dry house. (con). The new owner mwah pleasant enough, a big burly local with a real country accent but the staff and manager couple were not suited to a country pub..... At all and would be more suited to a nightclub type establishment. All I can say is a once good pub has become average. It would be fair to point out many changes are afoot and I will try once more in the summer and fingers crossed the New Inn is back to its best.

The last time I visited this pub was out of curiosity, at the time there was a tale or legend that this pub had a three legged stool which could talk, my brother visited this pub and was very shocked at was he saw, he asked this stool many questions and the stool replied by tapping out yes or no and it was accurate each time, my brother being a carpenter by trade picked up this stool to investigate it as he thought this must be a trick but there was no trick. A few years later the story of this stool was printed in The People newspaper about a woman was told by the stool that she would have another child she scoffed this as she had been sterlised, but a couple of years later she did have a child as they had made a mistake with her operation. I am keen to go and see this pub again on this story alone.

Whilst staying at local holiday park, my family and I visited the new inn on recommendation from the park staff and visitor book. Well worth finding this place, even though off the main roads. Warm welcome from this family run pub every time we went. Food was fresh and tasty and served with a smile by the chef/ landlord and his wife. Sunday roast was excellent and all those creamy desserts. Will return later in year when on holiday for one of their world music days.

I love this pub...best pub in Dorset by far! Warm welcome always and fantastic food. the locals make the pub, but the walkers holiday makers and others coming in makes it relaxing yet lively, a great combination. great staff, lovely barmaids and the chef looked very presentable and the food was fresh hot and very tasty! Go to the New Inn...you will love it so much you will just have to go back!

We loved the New Inn! Whilst camping in nearby Osmington Mills our friends found the inn and we returned for our Sunday evening meal. Son took our orders and poured the drinks; mum cooked the food. The variety and quality of the freshly-prepared food was excellent, and the service was just right. We'll definitely return when in the area.

We were made to feel very welcome in this charming local pub, including our baby daughter. Nothing was too much trouble. Our food was delicious. Service was excellent. We shall return - frequently! Karen and Sam are doing an excellent job at revitalising this village pub.

Visited the New Inn on a recomendation from friends and famly in the village, suggesting that a recent change of ownership made this place worth a second chance visit. I'm pleased to say it was and my family and I enjoyed a delightful meal. We appreciated the warm and friendly atmosphere and the feeling that nothing was too much trouble for the new owners. The food was freshly cooked and plentiful. I had the Steak & Guinness pie and will do again and the mushroom starter was well recieved by my wife. The only comment that I can make to balance out this review is that the decor was in the middle of a change but I am sure that the owners will bring this togeher and make this a busy, community centred local pub that the village and area deserves.

We went to The New Inn for a family meal - 4 adults and one child on 22nd December. We got a warm greeting, and the food was delicious. It is all freshly cooked so it takes a little time, but is well worth the wait. The menu is not pretentious and gives a good range for any tastes. The second visit was 6 adults and one child a baby and a dog. We had reserved so a table was laid in the corner. We were very well looked after, and again the food was good and plentifuland the service good. We felt very welcome there. This is a warm family friendly pub. The kitchen has recently been refurbished and only open for food for two weeks when we went. The couple who run it are building up a clientele of locals and those from further afield, as well as walkers.

I visited The New Inn to find it was in the middle of a change of ownership. The new couple seem very nice and had some good ideas of what they want to do with the food and apperance of the pub. They are looking at good home cooked pub grub, with a local slant. Finally somewhere in this part of Dorset that will serve this sort of food and not attempt to be a 'Gastro Pub.' They were in the middle of a deep clean of the pub. Although it wasn't finished it appeared fresh and bright with a real country pub feel. I wish the new owners the best of luck and hopfully we will have a good country pub in this area again.

friendly pub in pleasant area unfortunately let down by the food, steak (meant to be fillet) and chicken, (microwaved) my self and my wife have ever had. garden area scruffy and chefs appearance and attitude (no chef whites, just jeans and t shirt) did not inspire confidence in kitchen area which was confirmed by quality and apperance of food. will NOT use again.
