Best campsite we have ever stayed at,the strict rules about large groups is very good and makes for a very relaxing holiday.Large groups can take their pick from a host of noisy sites, leave this site for people who want some peace and quite.Any large group that does not phone and check in advance if they can get on the site befre setting off, cannot really complain!Again best site in the Lakes by far.

What an excuse of a campsite. Arrived in the afternoon, 2 families in 5 minis. We were told by a rather abrupt member of staff that we would not be allowed to stay due to the fact he claims that groups make noise. Although signs clearly stated 'No Noise After 11pm' it seemed to us that talking was completely forbidden. His belief was completely unfounded as we made no noise on entry or exit to the site. We were also told that if we had turned up individually throughout the day, we would also be removed. After driving for two hours we were turned away and had to drive for another hour in search of a campsite. So, if you are on your own, have no family, don't like talking to people or drive a car which no-one else does, this site is perfect for you. Needless to say, we won't be going again.

Absolutly disgusted!!!!!!! Over the telephone we were told that although there was 23 of us (4 families) we could not book onto the group site, we would have to do the "first come, first served" thing on the family site. So, after travelling for hours with 15 children between us, we arrived at Great Langdale only to be told by a rather snooty manager that even though there is plenty of room, he would not be accepting us onto the site at all. The manager John Kelly claims that the site will not accept groups of families or even large families. He said that if groups seem to be forming on "his" site he will kick them off. So basically, if your a larger than average family, a group of families, or planning to speak to anyone whilst on your holiday, this is NOT the place to go.

I have seen many improvements to the campsite over the years, all for the better, but unfortunately too many people are visiting now and for the last twice we have had to find alternative camping when we have been unable to get on the site. Could it not be possible to book? I have been bringing my family here for years for a stress free weekend now I am stressed in case we cannot get on? surely you can see my predicament?
