I bought an artificial christmas tree from Whiteleys Garden Centre - when I removed the tree from its already open box, I found it to be dirty. broken and showing signs that it had been used before. I complained to the shop and although they apologised and offered to replace it, my request for compensation was met with haughty disdain. They seemed more concerned that an open box was in their stock room than the fact that they had one very unhappy customer.
