Penycae, South Wales

Review of Penycae by Lewis Rees on December 28th, 2006
My wife and I live in the Swansea valley and have eaten at the Pencae Inn on 5 seperate occasions. The building itself is very tastefully refurbished making use of high quality timber throughout. There is a calm and friendly atmosphere in the bar downstairs which has an open log fire. Orders are taken for meals here in a very relaxed environment and when your food is ready you and your drinks are ushered upstairs to the dinning room. This is where this fabulous restaraunt comes in to its own.The food here is superb!!The owner who will almost certainly come and speak to you takes great pride in the food and the service he offers. A two course dinner with drinks will probably set you back approx £50. This may seem a lot to some but once you have experienced this place you will realise how reasonable this is. There are certain places in the Gower that will struggle to equal the quality of the Pencae Inn and will charge double that amount. It is located near Graig Y Nos Castle in the upper Swansea valley and can be reached from Swansea in about 30 mins. Give it a try,you will not be disappointed.
