Lancashire Reports

Littleborough, Lancashire

Review of Littleborough by Shirley Baker on October 21st, 2007
I lived in the Rake when Annie Turton owned it (my Grandmother). The pub look from the inside hasn't changed much but it has been spoilt by trying to make it into a 'Tapas' restaraunt. Anyone who new the pub before would be sad to see it change from being a pub, and I'm not sure what gran would think. But, if it's purley commercial thinking you want, then the pub's certainly that, but if it's being proud of the pubs history then the new owners have failed miserably. I was there in Sept 07 as my parents still live on the Rd, so I am pretty much up with all the changes. I live in Australia now and I am proud to tell of 'my family's' pub, but not to keen to promote the new look. Shame really isn't it!!! Oh yes, the food was quite nice as well. As for Littleborough, Well it still has charm, although you have to go further out now for the 'Old charm', but the little butcher on Hare hill Rd (Liams) is still the epitomy of good old fashioned lancashire hospitality and great service/quality. I will be back in 2yrs...lets hope not to much has changed.
