Mansfield House Hotel is a luxury country house hotel, rated 4 star by the Scottish Tourist Board, in which the resident owners provide a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in a comfortable environment.
The house, built in the 1870s and substantially extended in 1902 by the then Provost of Tain, retains many of its fine original features including a wealth of pine panelling and ornate plaster ceilings.
It even claims to have a ghost, that of Mrs Fowler, the much loved wife of the Provost, who is, however as friendly and welcoming as the present staff.
Public areas and the bedrooms have all been extensively refurbished. All rooms are en-suite, with colour TVs, trouser presses etc. Those in the Victorian part of the house have been furnished to de luxe standard with antique furniture. Many of the bathrooms are fitted with jacuzzis.
The staff, most of whom are from the Scottish Highlands, combine the warmth and hospitality for which Scotland is famous with a professional approach to hotel management developed through intensive training.
