Born 1542. Died 1587 - Queen of Scotland, executed by Elizabeth 1.

Daughter of James V of Scotland. Married to the French dauphin, died in 1560. Returned to Scotland where power was in hands of Protestant Lords. Signed act of abdication in favour of her son. Crossed to England to be protected by Elizabeth I, however imprisoned and later brought to trial and sentenced to death. Buried in Peterborough but body moved to Henry VII’s chapel at Westminster.
