Maxey

The village of Maxey lies within the current boundaries of Cambridgeshire, England: some 8 miles north of Peterborough. It is home to nearly 700 residents.

Originally part of Northamptonshire, Maxey can trace its 'modern' roots back over 1,000 years and is mentioned in the Anglo Saxon Chronicles. However, archaeological excavation of the area has provided ample evidence of continuous occupation for over 4,000 years.

The main focal points are the one remaining Public House (Blue Bell), the Church (St. Peters) & the Village Hall. Each provides a range of social functions throughout the year. There are a surprising number of businesses based in the village, including a few working farms.

There is a strong community spirit. Regular events staged throughout the year are well attended, many of which donate the profits to the Maxey Blue Bell Charity Club. The club has been able to distribute over ý25,000 to charities and other good causes over the last few years.

The hard-copy village newsletter and the village web site (in operation since 1998) provide a valuable service for existing and former residents to keep up-to-date with news and event reporting.
