Founded in 1886 by workers of the Royal Arsenal at Woolwich in South East London, Arsenal was originally known as Dial Square. The club was renamed first Royal Arsenal then Woolwich Arsenal before becoming Arsenal Football Club. Nowadays the club is known as Arsenal, The Arsenal or The Gunners. The club turned professional in 1891. In 1913 Arsenal relocated to Highbury in North London from their original location in Woolwich. The club remained at Highbury until moving to the Emirates Stadium in nearby Holloway in 2006, with its capacity of 60,355. As well as being one of the older clubs in the league, Arsenal are one of the most successful in English football with great success in both the league and the FA Cup. Frenchman Arsene Wenger is the clubs longest serving manager and he's done very well with the silverware too. The club finished in the top two in eight out of his first eleven seasons as manager. Arsenal has one of the most enviable records in English football as they have spent more consecutive seasons in the top flight than any other club, a record which stood at 80 at the start of the 2007-2008 season!
