The house is surrounded on all sides by open fields. The surrounding area is very scenic and full of small surprises. It’s great for walking, touring or just for ‘getting away from it all’ and enjoying peace and quiet. Set in wonderful open countryside Bush Nook was originally part of a big Estate held in trust for the Earl of Carlisle in the Barony of ‘Guilsland’. Built in 1760 with further additions made in 1811 and 1849 the house and its outbuildings are stone built in traditional farmhouse style, and was probably built using stones “borrowed” from the nearby Hadrian’s Wall Fortifications.

The house has been restored to retain as many features of the original property as possible with all bedrooms ensuite. Those in the former hay loft and hay barn retain their 'country' feel having open beamed ceilings. All rooms have a colour television, a hair dryer and hot drink making facilities and a few little luxuries to help you enjoy your stay. Next to the Dining room there is a delightful conservatory and a reading lounge available for guests to relax and recuperate.
