When you've had a bracing afternoon's hike through the wilds of the Mardyke Nature Reserve and you've earned a hearty meal, or when you want a place for an evening with mates, Henry's Bar + Restaurant is the ticket. A few hundred years ago, this building was a farmhouse, now mercifully the pub fairy has bopped it with her wand and created a charming, traditionally-decorated gastropub with culinary aspirations and a relaxed ambience. The food is fresh and the wines and real ales flow freely. A modern English menu features dishes like starter of fresh langoustines with lemon thyme & garlic butter followed by wild boar sausage with mustard and onions served on onion bread or Welsh rarebit with poached smoked haddock & dry cured bacon. Finish with the white chocolate & raspberry tart. There is live music a couple of times a week. Wednesday night it is live jazz and Friday is Soul Night.
