A New Breed of Zoo
BBC1's The Zoo Keepers, opened the doors of Paignton Zoo to over 8 million viewers, making stars of many of the animals as well as their keepers.
It's one of England's biggest zoos with over 1,000 animals including tigers, lions, gorillas, orangs, elephants and hundreds of birds and one of the Westcountry's most popular attractions, with nearly half a million visitors.
A registered conservation and education charity with 74 endangered species, the Zoo runs a number of scientific study projects and three overseas conservation programmes. Visit of 4 hours+ recommended.
