Educated at Oxford High School, the mixed sixth-form of Westminster, and at Magdalen College, Oxford, Martha Lane as co-founder of lastminute.com was one of the biggest winners of the dot-com boom of the late 1990s and early 2000s. She suffered very serious injuries in a car accident in Morocco that hospitalised her for a lengthy period, but recovered to become involved again in her own entrepreneurial projects, and to act as a government advisor on digital commerce and related issues. She became Baroness Lane-Fox of Soho in 2013.
