First major stage role was as Foxtrot Darling in the Fastest Clock in the Universe. Became well known playing the role of Lord Alfred Douglas in Wilde (1997). Moved to Hollywood and appeared in the films Gattaca, Road to Perdition, The Talented Mr Ripley and Cold Mountain. Had leading role in the remake of Alfie. Received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
