Born 1957 – Professional snooker player.
Has won six world titles and six UK Championships. During the 1980s he was the world number one for seven years, became the sports first millionaire. Has also developed a television career as a studio analyst and has appeared on television quizzes such as They Think It’s All Over. Named the BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1988. Made an MBE in 1988 and awarded an OBE in 2001.
