Born 1921 - Ded 2006 Footballer and Manager.

Signed for Chelsea in 1940, spent most of his playing career with Chelsea, Brentford and Fulham. On retirmement he was put in charge of the England youth team.He then combined the roles of Arsenal first-team coach and England Under-23s manager. Appointed manager of West Ham in April 1961 where he spent 16 years. In 1977 he was appointed England manager.
