Born 1821. Died 1895 - English mathematician.


Graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge. Called to the Bar in 1849. Wrote nearly 300 mathematical papers. Main contributions were algebraic theory of invariant and covariants, work on matrices and study of n-dimensional geometry.
