Born 1924 - English sculptor.
Studied engineering at Cambridge but after WWII turned to sculpture. Early work consisted of bronze animal and figures. Developed abstract style of large pieces of welded metal painted in primary colours. Co-designed London’s Millennium Bridge. Awarded CBE in 1969, knighted in 1987, awarded Order of Merit in 2000.
