Became freelance photojournalist in 1951. Known for his informal portraits of the famous. Married Princess Margaret (1960-78) and created Earl of Snowdon in 1961. Recently has supported the plight of the disabled and handicapped. Presenter of television series Snowdon on Camera (1981). Received Royal Photographic Society award in 1985.
