Langham

Langham is a small village situated on the Essex Suffolk border and in the heart of Constable Country. Although we are close to the A12, the main Colchester to Ipswich road, we feel that we are still a village and retain the community spirit. It was as a result of this that we won, in 2003, the award for Essex Village of the Year Competition for villages of our population. An indication of the community spirit is the opening of a Community Shop and Post Office, in October 2004, which is run by volunteers from the village with any profits going back into village activities. The shop, situated in the car park of our Community Centre, will act as the focus and ensure that the village remains a community and does not become simply a dormitory for the nearby towns.
