Set in the Downland village of East Dean and 2 miles from Goodwood race course, this attractive 18th century Freehouse was refurbished 5 years ago to unveil its original open brick and flint walls. In a cosy and relaxed atmosphere, you can enjoy our local ales poured straight from the barrel or choose a wine from our extensive and quality wine list.

Reviewed in the Good Food, the AA, Alastair Sawday’s and the Egon Ronay guides, our food menu is well known for its fresh local fish and seafood including the Star seafood platter with Selsey lobster and crab direct from the fisherman and whole Sea bass, Plaice or sole. The meat lovers are well catered for as well with our large choice of quality meat dishes featuring lamb, beef, chicken and local game.

You can enjoy the sun on our patio and in the garden on the nice summer days or warm up by our log burner in the chilly winter evenings.

Our six delightful en-suite bedrooms are all nicely appointed and offer tea and coffee facilities, flat screen freeview television and wifi internet access.
