Aldingham House is Carlisle's only 5 diamond bed breakfast accommodation, built by the Duke of Devonshire around 1840, our historic listed house is situated in a Conservation Area just above the banks of the picturesque River Eden, yet only 10 minutes walk from trains, buses and the heart of the City.

We are Carlisle's highest graded bed & breakfast, and offer superior accommodation, friendly hospitality and delicious home cooking for up to six guests in luxuriously appointed bedrooms with generous ensuite bathrooms and all amenities. Our 3 spacious ensuite bedrooms are individually designed with style and comfort in mind, some have feature bathrooms but all have the cosiness of home.

We also have off-street parking and Internet access, and the original Drawing Room, which has log fires on colder days, contains maps and books to help you plan your holiday. For year round short breaks or business stop-overs, we warmly welcome you into a relaxing setting.

The Borders area holds international acclaim for being one of the finest historical regions in the world, and Aldingham House is ideally situated for touring the local area. Visit Carlisle, Cumbria's only city. Rich in history and the arts, combined with plenty of places to shop, eat and be entertained. Carlisle is so compact, friendly, and easy to get around that you can enjoy a leisurely visit without the hustle, bustle, noise and bewilderment you will experience in many larger cities. After the city, enjoy superb scenic walks and a tour of the many sites marking 2000 years of history along Hadrian's Wall. There is nothing else like this World Heritage Site anywhere in the country, and the best parts of the Wall are only a short distance from Carlisle. The river Eden is the perfect spot for fishing and several excellent golf courses may also be found in close
