Winner of the Historic Houses Association/Christie's 2004 'Garden of the Year'‚ the Garden is a plantsman's paradise, with rare trees and shrubs introduced by the great plant collectors in early 1900's mainly from the Himalayas, Andes and Tasmania. This unique collection of trees also extends to many woodland areas and includes native hardwoods and specimen trees. Created by Col. Stephenson Clarke in the 1890s, the Stephenson Clarke family continue to maintain his collection, which is of immense botanical and historical interest, with a rich variety of colour and breathtaking displays throughout the seasons.

Enjoy the distinctive formal 'garden rooms', including the sumptuous Rose Garden and the romantic Italian Garden. Find peace and tranquillity in the informal Azalea Ring and the Garden of Allah, and drama in the sub-tropical Round Dell. For children there is an exciting Pirates Adventure Playground and lakeside walks to explore and picnic.

Guided tours of the Garden can be organised for pre-booked groups as can tours of Borde Hill House at certain times. For more general lovers of the outdoors Borde Hill hosts a wide variety of events including equestrian, plant fairs, countryside shows and open air concerts
