Claiming the hotly-contested title for 'The Most Succulent Steaks in Wapping', Chuzzlewits is a terrific place to dine slightly off the beaten Highway. It's tucked into Thomas Moore Square (off The Highway), where the thunder of traffic fades into the background and relaxation takes over. Inside, there's a chummy wine bar area and a long dining hall that widens out into the main restaurant. The sleek decor and white tablecloths let you know you're in a place that values your enjoyment. There are tables al fresco for sunny lunches on the terrace. Because the staff stay and stay, you can become welcomed as a regular customer. The menu is modern European with daily specials and some traditional favourites, like the aforementioned steak. Try starter of duck pancake with sweet and sour sauce and pickled cabbage, or grilled goats cheese salad, main course of roast cod on new potato and French bean salad with curried dressing, or a classic lamb burger with Greek salad, and dessert of pear and ginger crumble. The wine list is as big as the world, it seems, with many modestly-priced gems.
