An elegant eighteenth century house within 200 yards of Lichfield cathedral. Home to Charles Darwin's grandfather, Erasmus, a renowned doctor, philosopher, inventor, scientist and poet. Period furnishings, interactives, computer screens and an audio-visual tell the story of this remarkable man. Children's mouse trail and period herb garden. Open 12pm-5pm Tues to Sunday, last admission 4.15pm. Closed Bank Holiday Mondays, Christmas and Good Friday. Admission charge.
