Whilst this venue looks very nice from the outside and inside the layout etc is impressive, I have to say that I found the place smelt really bad of cooking fat...its was totally off putting and my clothes stank when I returned home...I mentioned it to the bar staff who just stared at me like i was an alien and said its always like this...not the sort of answer I would have expected...I would certainly not return again it was more like joes cafe on a bust day

This is not a good review ! I booked for 20 people about 6 weeks prior to our meal, for my husbands birthday. The girl who took the booking, said fine, just pick what you want upfront, so we all did.No-one from the French Horn contacted me at all in all the time in between , which I thought odd since it was a large booking.I rang them, the sunday before to confirm numbers & menus, to speak to the landlady's husband. He was abrupt & unhelpful, making me worried by telling me they wouldn't be able to cope with all our menu choices. He also said that we would be in the 'skittle alley' & not the restaurant.I then spoke to Debbie, the land lady, who was much more helpful & just asked if we could change 3 meals. On the night, we were all hurried over to the skittle alley a good 20 mins before our meal was due. It was absolutely freezing in there, in my opinion , not acceptable for customers to endure. There were no crackers on the tables as there were in the restaurant. The food was sometimes left outside on a table whilst the waitress opened the door. Then they brought out our original choices after all the hoo-har of making us change. The man was short & impatient again when serving deserts making us feel like an inconvenience. He clearly was being gready in not putting us in the restaurant area. We did have 10% knocked off the bill, but left no tip due to the appalling service. We had lots of men looking forward to a xmas drink afterwards & would've spent alot of money if it hadn't been for our treatment. If they'd had the decency to call me earlier , I could've booked elsewhere if they couldn't accommodate my party. It was a real shame as the food was actually quite nice but it was disgusting to expect people to sit in their coats eating dinner. The lady was pleasant & clearly seemed embarrassed but her husband should not be in the food trade with his complete lack of manners & customer service skills.
