Born 1936 - English jazz composer, bandleader and pianist.
Studied painting then turned to music. Wrote for his own ensembles, from trios to big bands. Operas include Quichotte (1989) and Good Friday1663 (1995). More recently composed Stage Set (1996) and film score for Camera Makes Whoopee (1996).
