John Roebuck

Born 1718. Died 1794 - English inventor.
Studied at Edinburgh. Graduated MD at Leyden but began research in chemistry. Improved methods of refining precious metals and producing chemicals. Founded Carron ironworks in Stirlingshire in 1759.
