Born 1926 - Northern Ireland clergyman and politician.

Ordained in 1946, founded his own denomination, the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster, in 1951. Entered the Northern Ireland parliament as a Protestant Unionist in 1969 and became an MEP in 1979. Co-founded the Democratic Unionist Party. Outspoken opponent of Irish unification. Has strenuously resisted the Anglo-Irish Agreement in 1985 and led the campaign against the Good Friday Agreement.
