Born 1929 - English thriller writer.

Art student and air steward before writing his first novel The Ipcress File (1962) which became a bestseller. Other successful spy novels include Funeral in Berlin (1965), the Game, Set and Match trilogy (1984-86) and another trilogy Spy Hook, Spy Line and Spy Sinker (1988-90). Also writes cookery books.
