- Favourite Briton.

Born in Bury, Lancashire
Born on 7th of August 1992

Simon Yates and his twin brother Adam began their road cycling careers with Bury’s Clarion Cycling Club. They were introduced to the sport by their father, rising rapidly through the junior ranks until aged 18 Simon was selected for the fast-track British Olympic Academy programme. In 2013 Simon won gold at the World Track Championships. Since 2014 the twins have raced with UCI team Orica-GreenEDGE, Simon making his first Tour de France appearance that same year, in his second in 2015 achieving a top 10 finish in one early stage and promising more for the future, as did his performance in the Criterium du Dauphine earlier in the year, where he won the Best Young Rider accolade.
